People trapped under rubble after huge 7.7 quake topples residential building in Syria

A massive earthquake with 7.7 magnitude rocked central Turkey with tremors felt across Syria, Jordan, Israel, and other locations.

Humanitarian organisation Syrian Civil Defense revealed that “several” residential buildings have collapsed in Syria following the massive earthquake.

The organisation has declared a state of emergency to rescue the residents trapped under the rubble.

The quake hit central southern Turkey, 114 km from Aleppo, Syria, with an approximate depth of 10km. 

Damage and injuries are expected to be substantial.
